The media spokesman for the Public Security Directorate, Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, warned against circulating rumors about crimes that did not occur with the aim of provoking and increasing interaction on some electronic pages and spreading misleading news, stressing that the Public Security Directorate will prosecute anyone who does so and will deal with them in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Al-Sartawi indicated, in a statement issued this evening, Saturday, that it was noticed that some pages and accounts published false news about cases and crimes that occurred in other countries, or did not happen at all, and under misleading titles such as “a woman who eats her husband’s ear” or “a woman who assaults her husband with a pipe.” Or “someone selling donkey meat,” “kidnapping girls in the public street,” “someone giving you a drug card,” and others.

He stressed that rumor mongers will be pursued and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law, noting that no one has any interest in creating a negative image and attaching it to Jordanian society.

Al-Sartawi called on citizens to beware of such news, and not to contribute to its dissemination and re-sending it through social media without verifying and trusting it through its official sources.
