The Islamic Action Front expressed its concern over the results of an opinion poll published by the International Republican Institute in Jordan.

The poll showed statistics about young people’s tendency to immigrate from Jordan, their mistrust of political parties, and their preference for municipal elections over parliamentary elections.

The results of the survey showed that about 45% of young people are seriously considering emigrating to secure their future and improve their quality of life, while only 35% believe that they can build a promising future in Jordan.

The Islamic Action Front said that these results are worrying because they indicate the frustration of youth with the failure of the political, economic and social methods of successive governments in Jordan.

The party added that the results also reveal the spread of nepotism, administrative and financial corruption, and the marginalization of efficiency, justice, and equal jobs available among Jordanians.

Democracy Index Report

The Democracy Index report for the year 2020 was issued by the Economist Group for Research and Analysis, and indicated that Jordan slipped to 118th place out of 167 countries around the world in the index.

In this regard, the Islamic Action Front stressed the importance of changing the official status quo in the administrations of various institutions across Jordan.

According to the report, Jordan’s ranking is due to its performance in several criteria related to political life and freedoms.

On a 10-point scale, Jordan scored 2.67 points in terms of the electoral process and political diversity, 3.93 points in the government performance index, 3.89 points in the political participation index, and 4.38 points in the political environment and culture index. Finally, Jordan scored 3.24 points on the civil freedom index.

According to the political party, these scores indicate the gap between the official statements of reform and freedoms and their reality on the ground.

The Islamic Action Front emphasized that the results related to immigration and democracy emphasize the political, economic and social crisis that Jordan is going through.

She highlighted the importance of decision-makers realizing that delaying the achievement of comprehensive and ambitious reform will negatively impact significantly on the Kingdom and the Jordanian people.
