Morocco receives first batch of Turkish “Bayraktar TB2” aircraft

In mid-September, Morocco received a first order of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 combat drones, according to what several local media reported on the Far-Maroc Forum, an unofficial page of the Moroccan armed forces on Facebook. .
In April, Rabat ordered 13 aircraft of this type, “as part of the process of developing and renewing the arsenal of the Royal Armed Forces, in order to be at the highest levels of modernity, efficiency and readiness to face all dangers,” according to the specialized forum “Far-Maroc”.
Following the $70 million contract signed with the Turkish company Baykar, a figure circulated by the local press, Moroccan soldiers have undergone a training program in Turkey during the past weeks, according to the forum.
Over the past years, the private company “Baker” has exported the Bayraktar TB2 model to Ukraine, Qatar and Azerbaijan.
Morocco uses drones for intelligence purposes and to monitor its borders, according to local military experts.
