Egyptian actress Menna Shalaby entered the competition for the Emmy Television Awards for the first time in her artistic career, after announcing the short list of nominees for the famous American award for the best actress category, on Thursday.

Menna Shalaby, 39, was nominated for her role in the crime and thriller series (Every Week on Friday), which was produced in 2020 and shown in 10 episodes on the Shahid electronic entertainment platform.

The series is based on a novel of the same name written by Ibrahim Abdel Majid, starring Aser Yassin, Sawsan Badr and Abdel Aziz Makhyoun, and directed by Mohamed Shaker Khudair.

Menna said on her Facebook page, “Thank you to the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for nominating me for an Emmy Award in the Best Actress category. According to the award’s official website, Menna Shalaby is competing with Spain’s Annie Gabarin, Argentina’s Valria Petticelli and Britain’s Hayley Squires.

The Emmy Award is presented annually by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 11 categories and the award ceremony will be held on November 22 in New York.
