Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that his country will make its local vaccine against the Corona virus “Turkovac” available to all of humanity soon.
This came on Tuesday in a speech before the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
“It is shameful for humanity to continue the monopoly on vaccines at a time when millions have lost their lives due to the virus and tens of millions of people continue to suffer from Corona,” Erdogan said.
He added, “We will soon make available our local vaccine, Turkovac, for the benefit of all humanity, along with our people.”
President Erdoğan also stressed that the negative effects of the Corona epidemic are still continuing despite all efforts made to eradicate it and the great progress that has been achieved in vaccination with antiviral vaccines.
And he added, “First of all, I would like to point out the following truth, even if it is painful and bitter. Unfortunately, we have not been able to pass a good test regarding global solidarity during this pandemic, which has reminded us humanity once again that we are one big family, and in particular the least developed countries and the poor segments of society were almost left to their fate in the face of the epidemic.
Erdogan expressed his belief that the messages of solidarity and cooperation that will be sent from the podium of the United Nations General Assembly, will raise the hopes of billions of people who are going through difficult times, as well as support the fight against the epidemic.
He pointed out that “the distorted structure of the global system, which creates problems instead of solutions, deepens differences and blocks the paths to solution, has a share in the high number of victims of the epidemic around the world.”
He stressed that “no country can live safely on its own before all countries get rid of the Corona epidemic.”
And he added, “We are proud that the first vaccine (Pfizer-Biontech) approved by the World Health Organization was developed by two scientists of Turkish origin living in Germany.”
In this context, he stressed “the need to strengthen the role of the United Nations General Assembly so that it can contribute more effectively to solving the problems of the international community.”
