The former Tunisian president said that the solution to the political dilemma in Tunisia is to refer to legitimacy, law and the rule of reason, acceptance of others, and renunciation of treason and exclusion, calling for the dismissal and trial of the current president, Kais Saied.
Al-Marzouki continued, on Al-Jazeera Mubasher, that the state cannot remain without a government, and the people cannot accept a Tunisian transformation into a ridiculous and unfortunate model.
Regarding Saeed’s repeated sermons, Marzouki said that they “disgrace and disgrace Tunisian democracy and humiliate all Tunisians. They are bouts of delirium in which the same words of treachery, accusation, and talk of an assassination attempt, a rocket launcher, and other things that embody a surreal scene.”
He continued, “This man has become a coup, and no one can defend him, and he has become a demand for dismissal and trial, according to my opinion.”
On Wednesday, Saeed issued new decisions extending his coup against the constitution, by freezing the work of Parliament and lifting the immunity of all its members.
The decisions include continuing to work with the constitution, chapters one and two of it, and all constitutional provisions that do not conflict with “exceptional measures,” in addition to canceling the temporary authority to monitor the constitutionality of laws.
The President of the Republic will, according to the presidential order, prepare draft amendments related to political reforms, with the help of a committee to be organized by presidential order.
According to a presidential statement, it was decided to continue suspending all the functions of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, to continue to lift the parliamentary immunity of all its members, and to put an end to all grants and privileges granted to the Speaker and its members.
