The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) revealed, on Monday, that the US military carried out an air strike near the city of Idlib, northern Syria, against a senior leader of Al-Qaeda.

This came in statements to the Ministry’s spokesman, John Kirby, during a video press briefing.

He said, “We carried out an air strike near the Syrian city of Idlib, targeting a senior al-Qaeda leader.”

On the identity of the targeted al-Qaeda leader, Kirby added: “So far, I don’t have more details.”

Earlier in the day, Syrian media reported that an international coalition drone had targeted a car on the road between the cities of Binnish and Idlib.
