Al-Belbeisi: There is no intention to close schools, and we will not allow water pipes to be served in winter

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases, Adel Al-Belbisi, said, on Monday, that the rate of daily tests to detect infection with the new Corona virus in Jordan is about 30,000, noting that the highest number of infections reached 1,200 and then began to decline gradually, reaching 600 in some cases. condition.

Al-Balbisi added, via Al-Mamlaka channel, that the epidemiological situation in Jordan has been stable for 19 weeks, and there is no talk of closures all over the world, but rather preventive measures are followed.

Al-Balbisi confirmed that 95% of infections in Jordan are from delta mutants, and that all vaccines have varying effectiveness in resisting the delta mutant.

When asked about the existence of a health protocol for a party that will be held in the city of Aqaba, Al-Balbisi said that there is a health protocol for all concerts and conferences in Jordan, whether the Aqaba party or the Jerash festival or otherwise.

Regarding schools, Belbeisi said that there is no intention to close schools, and that there is a “very small” increase in the number of injuries in schools.

Speaking about the situation of people infected with corona in hospitals, Belbeisi said, “15-17% of cases are isolated, 20-25% are in intensive care, 15% are on artificial respiration, and between 70-80 deaths are recorded weekly in Jordan with the virus, and the percentage of positive tests has not More than 4%,” adding that 93.5% of the cadres of the Ministry of Health received the Corona vaccine.

He added that the state will provide the seasonal flu vaccine free of charge to some groups, such as health personnel and people with chronic diseases, and this is something that is followed every year, noting that the flu vaccine will arrive next October.

He said that last year, 286,000 doses of influenza vaccine were brought in, and a portion of them remained unused.

He pointed out that a third booster dose has not been approved for everyone, but is limited to specific cases previously announced.

When asked about allowing hookahs to be served inside facilities next winter due to the difficulty of offering them in open spaces, he said that he would not allow hookahs to be served indoors.
