Four American tourists completed a space trip aboard a SpaceX capsule, which orbited the Earth for three days and landed on Saturday evening in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.
And by reaching Earth, the first flight in human history that was restricted to ordinary passengers, not including any professional astronaut, was successfully completed. The landing took place on time, shortly after 19:00 (23:00 GMT), according to a video clip, according to what the agency “AFP” reported.
SpaceX, owned by high-tech tycoon Elon Musk and CEO of electric car maker Tesla, said in a live broadcast on its YouTube channel, that the capsule, called Crew Dragon, landed in the sea at about 7 pm EST after a three-day trip. , according to Reuters.
SpaceX prepared and launched the spacecraft from Florida and controlled its flight from its headquarters in the Los Angeles suburbs.
The flight took off last Wednesday from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, one of two reusable SpaceX rockets.
Within three hours, the capsule reached an orbital altitude of just over 585 km, higher than the International Space Station and the Hubble Space Telescope and farther than any point man has reached since the end of NASA’s Apollo program to explore the moon in 1972.
