Training of “Health” cadres on life support programs will start next week

Minister of Health Dr. Firas Al-Hawari discussed with the International Committee of the Red Cross ways of cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the International Committee in the fields of training and continuing education for health cadres working in government hospitals.
This came when Al-Hawari received today the head of the ICRC delegation in Jordan, Sarah Averud, and the departing head of the ICRC delegation in Jordan, Sandra Titamenti, as well as the coordinator of the ICRC’s health department, Dr. Kaspar Tashjian.
During the meeting, the Minister of Health reviewed the ministry’s most prominent plans in terms of training health cadres in government hospitals, stressing that the ministry is about to open a center for training on life support programs approved by the American Heart Association next week.
He added that this center will be the first specialized center to train and rehabilitate health cadres working in the Ministry of Health, where all health cadres will be trained on life support programs in accordance with the latest international standards and according to the instructions of the American Heart Association for the year 2020.
Al-Hawari explained that these programs will provide health cadres with the skills necessary to provide medical care for emergency vascular cases, which will contribute to raising the chances of survival.
He pointed out that health cadres will be trained by trainers accredited by the association, and all participants will undergo practical and theoretical tests to ensure their mastery of the skills provided, which contributes to raising the efficiency of care provided by medical cadres.
Within the context of the interest in training health cadres, the Ministry and the International Committee of the Red Cross agreed to find a training and education center in the Ministry of Health, with direct support from the International Committee of the Red Cross, to provide training in first aid and emergencies, in addition to training cadres on the prevention of violence against health cadres and other training courses in health facilities. Healthcare.
The training process related to the aspect of cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross will be launched according to what was agreed upon during the meeting before the end of this year. during the training of trainers.
The process of training health cadres will begin in its first phase, according to Al-Hawari, at the Ambulance and Emergency Hospital in Al-Bashir Hospitals and will reach 34 government hospitals distributed across all governorates of the Kingdom. These cadres will be trained and their skills developed in the field of basic emergency care.
The International Committee of the Red Cross also made an in-kind donation to the Karak Governmental Hospital, in the form of some medical equipment, with a value of 34,000 dinars.
This equipment includes but is not limited to; Patient monitoring equipment, trolley beds, ECG machines, etc.
It was also agreed during the meeting that the International Committee of the Red Cross would support the Ministry of Health in its national campaign for vaccination against the Corona virus by providing logistical support, which includes vaccination equipment and means of transporting mobile vaccination teams.
For his part, Dr. Kaspar Tashjian said: “In the ICRC, we believe in the importance of building bridges of cooperation between us and government institutions. Therefore, today’s meeting included introducing the Ministry of Health to the new head of the ICRC delegation in Jordan, Sarah Avrilud. The meeting also focused on three main points represented in discussing cooperation in the file of vaccination against the Corona virus, the health situation in places of detention in Jordan, and emergency preparedness in the facilities of the Ministry of Health.”
Dr. Tashjian affirmed the ICRC’s full readiness to support the Ministry of Health logistically with regard to the vaccination campaign against Coronavirus in the northern and southern governorates, adding that the ICRC, in the framework of its cooperation with the Ministry of Health, will provide specialized training for the Ministry of Health’s staff to control tension and deal with violent situations.
He concluded: “We affirm our full support to the Ministry of Health in its endeavors to improve the work environment of health sector employees and raise awareness regarding dealing with them. The ICRC will also continue to explore other means of cooperation with the Ministry of Health in various fields.”
