Russian doctor Marina Goravleva warns that improper treatment of any disease is fraught with the development of serious complications.

The doctor described a fatal mistake made in treating the infection at home – the misuse of medicines, for example, sharing allergy medicine with cough syrup.

“This is a mistake that can have serious consequences,” she said, explaining that the improper use of these medications usually occurs in self-medication settings, and “Taking allergy medication with cough syrup together can lead to the formation of toxic doses in the body.”

A similar effect is explained by similar active substances contained in the preparations. Marina indicated that its accumulation in the body can contribute to sleep disturbances and the occurrence of severe lethargy and drowsiness during the day.

Another fatal mistake is that a person can take antipyretic drugs while taking anticoagulants, and the doctor added that in this case the risk of bleeding increases.
