The Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System will hold a meeting tomorrow, Sunday, to discuss and approve all its official outputs, including new draft laws related to parliamentary elections and political parties, according to what a member of the committee, Pater Wardam, confirmed.
Wardam Ali said in a tweet via his personal account on the Twitter platform, today, Saturday, that tomorrow’s meeting is to approve the outcomes of the Royal Committee, denying the abolition of any seat for Circassians and Chechens in the election law as it is currently being circulated as a result of a misunderstanding, he said.
He added, that one of the three seats was allocated to the national party list, which includes 41 seats from all governorates and quotas in equal proportions.
A royal decree was issued, on the tenth of last June, to form the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System of 92 members, headed by former Prime Minister, Al-Ain, Samir Al-Rifai, while the resignation of the writer and political analyst, director of the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies, Oraib Al-Rantawi, was accepted. , from the committee’s membership on the twenty-sixth of last June, against the background of an article he published about the Battle of Dignity, which sparked controversy among political circles.
The resignation of Dr. Wafaa Al-Khadra, from the committee’s membership, was also accepted on the 23rd of last July, against the background of a post on “Facebook” related to the ritual sacrifice of sacrifices on the blessed Eid Al-Adha, which provoked widespread popular reactions that demanded her dismissal.
The resignation of Dr. Hassan Al-Barari was also accepted on the sixteenth of last August, after he submitted it; He was convinced that the election committee’s proposals would reproduce the status quo, which “is not suitable for Jordan at the beginning of the bicentennial.”
The Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System has started its work since last June in implementation of the royal message, provided that the committee submits its recommendations before the beginning of next October, according to what Al-Rifai confirmed.
His Majesty directed the committee to draft a new election law and a new draft law for political parties, and to consider constitutional amendments that are legally related to the two laws and parliamentary work mechanisms.
