A memorial to doctors fighting the coronavirus pandemic has been erected in the Russian capital, Moscow, near the Museum of Medical History of Sechenov University.
The monument is a huge statue, on the front of which is written: “Medical workers in the fight against COVID-19”. A piece of bronze was also placed on the stele, which tells of the heroism of doctors from various specialties.
“Moscow has borne the brunt of the epidemic,” said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. “For many months, the health care system in Moscow was operating at a high intensity.”
The mayor thanked all those who took the initiative to erect the memorial. At the same time, he noted that the main memorial “erected by the doctors and paramedics themselves, is that 1.5 million patients were cured in Moscow, and tens of thousands of lives were saved.”
