Today, Saturday, Minister of State for Information Affairs Sakher Dodin announced that the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System will soon submit its recommendations to His Majesty for approval.

King Abdullah recently issued directives to form the royal committee to modernize the political system to promote the democratic approach and conduct a comprehensive review of legislation to regulate political life, according to Dodin.

The minister stressed that the royal directives of all successive governments call for investing in people and providing them with the best services.

In a speech during a symposium organized by Amman Groups for Future Dialogues, Dudin said that His Majesty King Abdullah believes that the Jordanian constitution, which was established in 1952, constitutes a democratic and political life, given the social developments and constantly changing circumstances that require some amendments.

Dodin added that the constitutional amendments were implemented in 2011, 2014 and 2016 to strengthen the legislative authority, prevent the dissolution of Parliament, improve the work of the Council and its independence, and consolidate the independence of the authorities, noting that the Independent Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court came to strengthen the democratic approach.
