The investigative judge at the Military Court in Tunis decided to release the head of the Karama coalition, Seif El-Din Makhlouf, after Tunisian security kidnapped him in front of the court.

The lawyer for the head of the Dignity Coalition bloc said that the military court canceled the arrest warrant for Seif El-Din Makhlouf, while media outlets reported that the deputy would return at a later time to hear him.

Security forces brought Makhlouf to the military court after he was kidnapped and assaulted.

Tunisian security had kidnapped the head of the Dignity Coalition bloc, MP Seif El-Din Makhlouf, in front of the military court.

The Dignity Coalition’s Facebook page said that MP Seif El-Din decided to present himself to the military court, and his lawyers made an appointment for him with the investigative judge at three o’clock, but he was kidnapped from the front door of the court by security personnel in civilian clothes and a civilian car, in the style of gangs.

She pointed out that the deputy and his lawyer accompanying him were assaulted, before he was taken to an unknown destination.

The page asked: “If this happens to a people’s representative and a lawyer, what awaits the poor citizen?”

She stressed that the process of kidnapping the deputy before the military court, who chose to turn himself in and face the judiciary, is a provocative and unjustified process.

The Al-Karama Coalition called on its supporters and all those who sympathize with them, “not to be drawn into these provocations, to exercise restraint, and to refrain from any reaction that will inevitably be exploited.”

She added: “The Dignity Coalition has not and will not be outside the framework of the law, no matter what injustice and provocation we face. We respect the law and we want Tunisia to be an example of the state in which the law is respected.
