Today, Friday, at the headquarters of the Asian Football Confederation, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, the draw for the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League was drawn via remote video technology.
And the Saudi Al Hilal, the champion of the championship version in 2019, was drawn with the Iranian Persepolis, the last runner-up, while the Saudi victory will face the Emirati unit, and the quarter-final matches are divided into two regions in the east and west of the continent.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Western Region will be held in Saudi Arabia, in addition to the final of the most powerful competition in the continent in terms of clubs, according to the Asian Football Confederation.
This role will be played on October 16, where Al-Nasr and Al-Wehda will meet at six in the evening at the Marsool Park Stadium, and the Al-Hilal and Persepolis match at nine in the evening at King Fahd International Stadium, according to what was announced by the official Saudi TV.
Al Hilal was the champion of this competition in 2019, and qualified for this round after beating Iran’s Istiklal 2-0, while Al Wahda beat its compatriot Sharjah by a penalty shootout, victory over Iranian Traktor 1-0, and Persepolis, runners-up in 2018 and 2020 over Tajikistan’s Istiklal 1 0.
In the East Asia region, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of South Korea will meet with compatriot Ulsan Hyundai, while Pohang Steelers of South Korea will face Nagoya Grampus of Japan.
It is noteworthy that Al-Wehdat participated in the edition of this tournament, as the first Jordanian team to participate in it, and came out of its first role despite the good level it presented, as it collected seven points.
