The instructions for creating and licensing advertisements within the borders of the Greater Amman Municipality, which were published Thursday in the Official Gazette, specified the types of banners prohibited to be used.
The instructions prohibited the use of the following signs:
Colors or lighting on the entirety of a building in a way that constitutes a company logo, trademark, or any other type of advertisement.
3D models, caricatures, or people.
Ornamental ropes and ribbons, flags, posters, lighting ropes, balloons, cars and any other similar tools, unless the display is for a specific period, such as festival decorations, seasonal decorations, or decorations for the celebration of major celebrations or the anniversary of institutions and car prizes, provided that permission is obtained in advance from the trustee.
Signs that, due to their size, location, movement, content, color or way of lighting, may obscure the vision of any sign or sign and affect public safety.
Banners that contain obscene, abusive, vulgar or immoral words, phrases, texts or images, or embody an indecent physical appearance, or include anything that affects national or religious feelings, or contradicts public morals or public order.
Signs on the roof of any building or above the level of the upper edge of the roof wall of any building, except for advertising banners on the roof of the building that show the names of buildings or commercial activities.
The instructions prevented placing signs on the following sites: Public utility poles or traffic signals Trees and fences over streets, with the exception of temporary signs mentioned in Article 6 of these instructions.
