The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs condemned the continued Israeli violations in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif, the latest of which was the storming of large numbers of extremists to the mosque and their provocative actions under the protection of the Israeli police.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Haitham Abu Al-Ful, said in a statement today, Thursday, that the Israeli actions against the mosque are rejected and condemned, and they represent a violation of the historical and legal status quo, international law and Israel’s obligations as an occupying power in East Jerusalem. He stressed that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Quds Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a place of worship purely for Muslims, and that the Department of Endowments for Jerusalem and the affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jordan is the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to manage all the affairs of the campus and organize entry to it.

The spokesperson called on the Israeli authorities to stop the violations, respect the sanctity of the mosque, respect the legal and historical status quo and respect the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration.
