The purpose of this lie was to be a valid reason for the employee not to go to work, but the matter turned against him, and he is currently facing a prison sentence of up to 5 years, according to the British newspaper “Dale Mail”.

This incident led to confusion in the company’s work, as work was suspended on many projects, in addition to placing 25 workers in quarantine. Later that day, the employee retracted the lie and sent a new letter to his boss saying that he had now obtained a negative result.

But NSW health officials revealed they had no record of the man ever testing, and the police then called him. The Australian young man is currently facing charges of transmitting false information and endangering people and property.

An official in the company said that the employee’s behavior led to material and psychological losses, as projects were suspended and workers were prevented from working for two or three days. If convicted, Jimmy Bateman faces up to five years in prison.
