Today, Monday, the Ministry of Interior held a meeting, which included the Ministers of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya, Social Development, Ayman Al-Mufleh and Justice Ahmed Al-Ziyadat, to discuss the problem of beggary.

The meeting also included the Chairman of the Amman Municipality Council, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the Public Security Directorate and a representative from the Family Protection Department. The attendees discussed the phenomenon of begging, which is becoming increasingly common.

Minister Al-Mufleh said that beggary has become a haunting phenomenon for Jordanian society, as 10,000 beggars have been arrested since the beginning of the year, all of whom do not need help.

He stressed the importance of addressing this phenomenon and the solidarity of all to address it, stressing that the citizen is the most important link in addressing the phenomenon.

And the Minister of Justice said that the Penal Code is open to amendment and filling the gaps, if any, to combat the phenomenon, stressing the need to conduct continuous field follow-ups and pay attention to the methods used.

Shawarbeh called for a legal deterrent to this phenomenon.
