The total area of ​​licensed buildings in the Kingdom increased from the beginning of this year until the end of last July, by 72 percent, to reach about 4.516 million square meters, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 2,625 million square meters.

The Department of General Statistics indicated in its report, today, Sunday, that the total number of building licenses issued in the Kingdom increased by 69.3%, to 14,531 licenses by the end of July of this year, compared to 8,583 licenses during the same period last year. The area of ​​buildings licensed for residential purposes by the end of July of this year increased by 72.9 percent, to reach 3.941 million square meters, compared to about 2,279 million square meters during the same period last year.

The area of ​​buildings licensed for non-residential purposes by the end of July of this year increased by 66.2 percent, to reach about 575,000 square meters, compared to about 346 million square meters for the same period last year.

According to the report, the area of ​​buildings licensed for residential purposes at the end of July of this year accounted for 87.3 percent of the total area of ​​licensed buildings, while the area of ​​buildings licensed for non-residential purposes constituted 12.7 percent of the total area of ​​licensed buildings.

At the level of regions, the share of the central region amounted to 66 percent of the total area of ​​licensed buildings, while the share of the northern region was 24.1 percent, while the share of the southern region was 9.9 percent.

According to the report, the licensed area for new buildings and additions to existing buildings accounted for 60.9% of the total area of ​​licensed buildings at the end of July of this year, while the licensed area for existing buildings accounted for 39.1%. The total area of ​​buildings licensed for new buildings and additions to existing buildings reached about 2,752 million square meters by the end of July of this year, compared to about 1,505 million square meters during the same period last year, an increase of 82.9 percent.

As for the level of July of this year, the data showed that the number of building licenses amounted to 1,898, and the area of ​​licensed buildings reached 683 thousand square meters, compared to 609 thousand square meters during the same month last year, an increase of 12.2%.
