The professor at the American University of Saint Louis and the former official in the Corona file at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Wael Al-Hayajneh, confirmed that the epidemic is not over.

In an interview with the country’s pulse, he explained, via Roya, on Saturday, that there is a new wave of Corona coming in the winter season, and it seems that the epidemic will turn into a seasonal one.

He said that talking about a third dose necessarily means that it is the first anti-Coronavirus for this year.

He pointed out that the vaccination rate in Jordan has reached 30%, which is excellent compared to the world, according to Hala News monitoring, but we need vaccination of up to 80%, whether through vaccination or previous infections to reach a safe society against the disease, and if it is not given, we will not reach safe and effective protection. .

He said that injuries are many in Jordan, coupled with 30% of the vaccination rate, which leads to an immunization rate of about 60-70%.

He expected an increase in the number of registered cases after the schools return to lift restrictions on society, but it will not rise to the level of a severe wave.

He cited two studies in the United States on childhood vaccinations, to study the safety and effectiveness of vaccinations on children from the age of six months to 12 years, according to Hala News monitoring, and it is important to give it to children in Jordan if it is confirmed to be safe because this segment constitutes 35% of the Jordanian population.

Although vaccination is the only solution to eradicating the virus, he pointed to fear at the global level in light of the vaccination of only 30%, all of which went to rich countries, of which 1% went to poor peoples.

With the presence of mutations and low vaccination rates in most countries, it seems difficult to say that the world is heading towards eliminating the disease.

He pointed to two American studies published on Friday, indicating that the existing vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna and G&G) are still effective even against the “Delta” mutant, which is responsible for 99% of infections in America.

And he indicated that the two studies confirmed that the probability of infection with corona for those fully vaccinated with two doses is 5 times less than that of the unvaccinated, admission to hospitals is 10 times less, and death 11 times lower.

He said that one dose should not be relied on because it is not effective against “Delta”, and that there should be two doses of Pfizer, Moderna and Sinopharm.

And it was found that the Moderna vaccine protects 96% from admission to hospitals even with the presence of “Delta”, according to Hala News monitoring, 80% by Pfizer, and 60% by G&G.

And he indicated that studies indicate that Sinopharm protects from hospital admissions and severe injuries by 100%, moderate injuries by 70%, and from all injuries by 59%.

He cited two studies in the United States on childhood vaccinations, to study the safety and effectiveness of vaccinations on children from the age of six months to 12 years.
