The Ministry of Social Development announced today, Sunday, that the employees of the Anti-Begging Unit arrested a number of juvenile beggars who were gambling in an alley in the capital, Amman, after completing the begging operations and collecting sums of money.

The ministry said in a statement today that upon verification and scrutiny of the family conditions of juveniles, it was found that the families of beggars are able to receive financial salaries ranging between 300 and 600 dinars per month from social security.

The ministry indicated that the juveniles were arrested in accordance with the law, the necessary seizures were made, and they were handed over to the legal requirement and presented to the competent juvenile judge.

The ministry stressed the need not to sympathize with beggary professionals, and that the citizen is a partner with the concerned authorities in combating this phenomenon, as begging is a quick way to earn money.
