The Center to Protect Journalists published that 50 complaints of torture were registered with the Public Prosecution Departments in Jordan during the period between 1-1-2018 and 23-10-2019.

The center added that despite Jordan’s ratification of the Convention against Torture since 1991, which obligates Jordan to prohibit and criminalize torture and prosecute its perpetrators, no judicial decision has been issued convicting any law enforcement officials of committing the crime of torture.
