Russia has reached a temporary ceasefire agreement in the besieged Daraa, while threatening to intervene in favor of the Syrian regime if a final agreement is not reached.

The group Ahrar Houran said; The commander of the Russian forces in Syria informed the notables of Daraa Governorate of the ceasefire in the besieged city until ten o’clock this morning, Monday.

He pointed out that the Russian forces threatened to intervene on the side of the Assad regime, if the regime’s demands were not implemented.

The spokesman for the Daraa Negotiating Committee, Adnan al-Masalmeh, explained to the assembly that it had been agreed with the Russian delegation and the regime’s security committee for a ceasefire until ten o’clock.

He stressed that no final agreement has been reached with the actors.

He pointed out that discussions will take place on Monday morning before the deadline on the terms of the agreement announced on September 1 expires.

He added: “The thing that encouraged us to return to negotiations is the Russian Deputy Defense Minister’s pledge to lift the security cordon off the besieged neighborhoods, and to withdraw military reinforcements from their surroundings, as soon as the security points are deployed.”

A source in Daraa said that the Russian side had put forward a proposal to return to the implementation of the Daraa al-Balad agreement, which stipulates the installation of military checkpoints inside the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad and the delivery of weapons, a settlement of the situation of local fighters, and the displacement of those who reject the agreement outside the city, in a move to search for a peaceful solution.

On Sunday, the Syrian regime forces launched intensive bombardment on the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, while part of the minaret of the Great Omari Mosque was destroyed.

Three civilians were killed as a result of artillery shelling by the regime forces, on the besieged neighborhoods of the city, on Sunday afternoon.

Since the end of July, the city of Daraa has witnessed an attack by the regime on the city, three years after an exceptional settlement sponsored by Russia. The humanitarian situation worsened with the siege imposed by the regime forces on Daraa al-Balad, the southern neighborhoods of Daraa city, where opposition fighters reside.
