Development: Prosecuting the father of the girls of Mecca Street

Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Social Development said that it hosted 3 girls sitting on one of the sidewalks of Mecca Street in the capital, Amman, in one of the ministry’s floors, at the behest of Minister Ayman Al-Mufleh. Victims of human trafficking.
The ministry added, in a press statement, that the girls’ father is working to force them to work in the crime of beggary in different areas of the capital, Amman, even though they live in one of the governorates near the capital, and they are brought from the evening hours to work begging until dawn.
She confirmed that the competent juvenile judge decided to place the three girls in one of the houses affiliated with the ministry, which is specialized in protecting victims of human trafficking, for a period of 6 months, and that all educational and psychological services will be provided to them, in addition to providing targeted programs and rehabilitation programs for their integration into society.
The ministry indicated that legal measures will be taken against the father for harnessing the girls and depositing him with the competent judiciary on suspicion of human trafficking, and in coordination and cooperation with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Public Security Directorate to manage the case in the investigation stage of the organized crime of begging, in immediate response to the recent amendments to the anti-trafficking law.
The Ministry stressed its commitment to provide all forms of protection and care for vulnerable groups, especially children and women, and to prosecute anyone who tries to exploit or exploit them for any similar work.
