Journalists and media professionals plan to carry out a comprehensive “electronic storm” tonight at eight in the evening, to defend public freedoms.
Journalists and media professionals are calling for the abolition of the proposed Audio-Visual Media Authority regulations, considering that they came to restrict the media.
Today, dozens of journalists and media professionals staged a protest in front of the Journalists Syndicate in Amman, to denounce the government’s restrictions on press and media freedoms.
Speakers said that the government of Bishr al-Khasawneh has practiced several methods to stifle the media and is moving towards closing independent media and keeping its media institutions.
They considered that the proposed Audio-Visual Media Authority regulations are only part of government practices that began years ago to eliminate websites and activists on social media.
They called for the overthrow of the Director of the Information Authority, Tariq Abu Al-Ragheb, and the Khasawneh government, and to continue the movement until the proposed amendments are retracted.
