Today, Saturday, the security services arrested the coordinator of the “Political Science Graduates from Jordanian Universities” committee, Moaz Wahsha, for the second time, according to what the committee announced in a statement issued this evening, expressing its rejection and disapproval of the decision to arrest Wahsha and his administrative detention by the governor of the capital, Yasser Al-Adwan.
It is noteworthy that the Political Science Graduates Committee had announced today the postponement of the open sit-in that was scheduled to be implemented tomorrow, Sunday, in the vicinity of the Fourth Circle; As a result of the negotiations that the committee concluded with the government and decision makers.
The committee indicated that these negotiations resulted in a government commitment to implement the agreement concluded between the government and the Political Science Graduates Committee from Jordanian universities in exchange for canceling the open sit-in tomorrow.
The committee stressed that the decision to arrest Wahsha “reflects the bad intentions of the Jordanian government and the concerned authorities, and indicates the government’s lack of seriousness in restoring confidence in young people, despite the committee’s national position on suspending the sit-in.”
The committee added that, accordingly, “we hold the government fully responsible and the concerned authorities for the arrest of our colleague Al-Wahha, and we demand the necessity of his immediate release without conditions or restrictions.”
The committee stressed the need to implement the agreement signed with the government, warning that if Wahsha is not immediately released within the coming hours, “we will take all constitutional steps, including an open sit-in on the Fourth Circle to demand the government’s departure.”
The security services had previously arrested the coordinator of the “Political Science Graduates from Jordanian Universities” campaign, Moaz Wahsha, in early September, following a complaint filed by the Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Al-Hanaifat, against him, while Wahsha was later released.
In addition, the organizers of the campaign “Political Science Graduates from Jordanian Universities” said that the approach of the Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hanifat, “constitutes a real danger to the agricultural sector and the aspirations of young people in Jordan.”
