Jordanian champion Ahmed Hindi won, at dawn today, Saturday, the gold medal, in the shot put competition F34, at the Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020), which concludes tomorrow in the Japanese capital.
Hindi succeeded in achieving first place and winning the gold medal after breaking the world record – previously registered in his name – and setting a new Paralympic record of 12.25 metres.
Moroccan Ezz El-Din Nouri came in second place and won the bronze medal after recording a distance of 11.55 metres, while the Qatari Abdel Qadeer Abdel Rahman came in third place and won the bronze medal after recording a distance of 11.36 metres.
This is the fourth gold medal for Jordan with the conclusion of the participation of our Paralympic team in the current edition of the Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) after 3 golds achieved by the champions of the national weightlifting team, Omar Qaradah, Abdul Karim Khattab and Jamil Al-Shibli, in addition to a bronze achieved by the table tennis player Khateem Abu Awad.
It is noteworthy that Jordan’s previous participation in the Paralympic Games, which began in 1984, during which it achieved one gold medal, was through Maha Barghouti in the table tennis competitions in Sydney in 2000.
