Al-Jazeera television reported that a Qatari Foreign Ministry official arrived in Afghanistan on Friday, as the Gulf state intensified efforts to reopen Kabul International Airport.

Qatar, which is working with Turkey, sent two other planes carrying technical teams to assess the damage to the airport.
