The government says that the poverty rate among Jordanians is only 18%

In his speech to the Voice of the Kingdom program this evening Sunday, Nasser Al-Shraideh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, confirmed that the unemployment rate in Jordan reached 24% by the end of the first quarter of this year.

He added that among the youth group it reached 50%, while among females it reached more than 28%.

He revealed that the number of Jordanians who receive salaries on sustainability programs is about 130,000 workers, and this means that 130,000 job opportunities are threatened in Jordan, indicating that the government is awaiting a survey of family income expenditures to find out the poverty rate in Jordan.

He added that, according to the latest survey, the poverty rate in the Kingdom reached 18%, and the pandemic added 0.6%, noting that the number of pockets of poverty in Jordan, according to the latest survey, is every region where the poverty rate exceeds 25%.

He explained that the number of beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund for the current year amounted to 185,000 families, and the Takaful 3 program targeted families that lost their sources of income due to the repercussions of Corona in the unorganized sector, and they number 160,000 families.
