A member of the Syrian People’s Assembly, Muhammad Khair al-Akkam, confirmed that the issue of transferring electricity from Jordan to Lebanon through the Syrian network was a topic of discussion during a previous visit of the Syrian Ministers of Oil and Electricity to Jordan.

According to the Syrian parliamentarian with whom Sputnik spoke, these discussions “carry an offer from Jordan to obtain Syria’s approval of the American proposal to supply Lebanon with electricity through Syria.”

Al-Akkam said: “It is not known what happened in these talks and what conditions Syria set in this framework. Syria will certainly deal with this decision, but according to its conditions that relate to Syrian interests in this framework.”

He continued, “Jordan has a surplus of electricity and a shortage of water, and it is possible that there will be Syrian-Jordanian cooperation by giving Jordan water, and taking electricity from it.”

Al-Akkam considered that “this news is related to what Hezbollah announced recently, that there are Iranian ships on their way to Lebanon loaded with oil and gas, and this accelerated the announcement of this issue, with the presence of an American policy in the region that is embodied in violating and exhausting the economies of countries in the region, foremost of which is Syria.” and Lebanon.”

He added: “Syria has been calling for a long time, for Arab regional economic networking in this context, and we hoped that this decision would be with an Arab framework to help Lebanon, and not with an American signal. It seems that accelerating this issue with an American signal means that the Arab countries do not bear their independence in their economic decision. or in international relations between them.

And a member of the Syrian People’s Assembly added, “This news, “Hezbollah’s announcement,” hastened America’s adoption of this decision in order to ensure that Lebanon is not entangled with the countries of the axis of resistance, and that it does not increase Hezbollah’s popularity in Lebanon. This issue has indications of an American-Arab link governed by the decision America to implement Washington’s agenda in the region.”

The Syrian parliamentarian said, “The American administration is compelled to take this decision to achieve its interests in the region, and because of Hezbollah’s threat that Iranian oil will reach Lebanon, American decisions always come for interests that have nothing to do with the goals that the administration announces in the region.”
