In its quest to investigate how the emerging corona virus originated, the World Health Organization has invited experts to join a new advisory group it is forming to conduct extensive research on the matter.

In detail, the organization announced in a statement, Friday, that the new scientific group will provide the World Health Organization with an independent analysis of the work that has been done so far to identify the origins of Covid-19, and advise the organization on the necessary next steps.

She explained that she is seeking to reach about 25 officials with relevant experience, to submit applications to join her new scientific advisory group by the tenth of September.

Who’s lab?!
It is worth noting that a team of international experts led by the organization, last March, issued a preliminary report that considered that it is absolutely unlikely that the origins of Covid 19 are linked to the virus leaking from a laboratory.

Although scientists believe that the virus was most likely transmitted to humans from animals, the theory that a laboratory was involved in the origin of the virus has gained strength in recent months, after US President Joe Biden ordered an intelligence review to examine this possibility.

Inaccurate effort
Critics attacked the organization’s initial assessment, saying it was an inaccurate effort, and noting that all members of the team sent to China needed government approval, as was done in the organization’s report.

Last month, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, admitted that it was “too early” to rule out the theory that the virus had leaked from a laboratory, describing laboratory accidents as “common”.
