Some think that taking the vaccine replaces wearing a muzzle, and that it will protect him from infection with the Corona virus, which leads to a state of recklessness in adhering to the health protocol, especially in places of gatherings and events and during shopping.

With regard to the extent of the effectiveness of vaccines in protecting against the Corona virus, the consultant of chest, respiratory and critical care diseases, Dr. Muhammad Hassan Al-Tarawneh, said that the vaccines prevent complications for the infected and reduce the death rate, but they do not prevent the transmission of infection.

He added that there is a possibility of transmission of infection from infected people to people who received the vaccine, and there are hundreds of cases recorded around the world, especially with the delta mutant.

Al-Tarawneh also stressed the need to adhere to public safety measures and wear masks, since vaccines do not prevent infection.

And he indicated that laxity in health requirements may lead to an epidemic setback, especially in light of the return of gatherings, weddings and social events.

Al-Tarawneh explained that the duration of protection given by vaccines is still under research, and I believe that the booster dose is given to reinforce the vaccine.

He stated that the epidemiological situation in Jordan is cautiously stable in light of the low demand for vaccinations, and the spread of gatherings, noting that the current wave is different because 80% of the target group, namely the elderly and those with chronic diseases, received vaccination and the entry of two waves before it, which reduced its severity.

He concluded his speech by saying that there is no pandemic in the world that ended three years ago, and societal immunity to viruses needs a long time due to their mutation, and what is happening in all countries of the world is happening to us, noting that America has increased the death rate despite the fact that most of the population received the vaccine.
