A judicial source expected, to the electronic newspaper, “Akhbar Al-Jordan” that a young man who committed an indecent act while driving his Toyota Prius on the main street in the Tabarbour area in the capital, Amman, will be charged with “outraging public modesty.”
The source pointed out that the charge of “outrage public modesty” applies to anyone who commits any act contrary to public taste, which applies to the Prius driver, according to what appeared in the video clip that spread like wildfire last night.
The source pointed out that if this accusation is directed at the young man, then Article 320 of the Penal Code applies to him, and states: “Anyone who commits an indecent act in a public place or in a society in a way that can be seen by those present shall be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months.” Or a fine of 200 Jordanian dinars, and the penalty is doubled in case of repetition, or if the accused is more than one person.
A security source confirmed to “Akhbar Al-Jordan”, that this morning, Saturday, the young man was arrested and transferred to the judiciary, after an investigation team was formed to determine his identity and arrest him.
A video clip that spread widely among Jordanians yesterday, of the young man, angered the pioneers of social networking sites, as many demanded that he be held accountable for this behavior as soon as possible.
