A Texas man has been awarded $5.5 million in damages after claiming that a restaurant was negligent and served him so much alcohol that he got drunk.
The lawsuit begins in 2019, after Daniel Rawls left a restaurant La Fogata Mexican Grill While he was drunk, he ended up arguing with another man in a parking lot, which resulted in him being seriously injured in the head area.
And according to the British newspaper, “Daily Star”, Daniel and the man who quarreled with him were drinking alcoholic drinks in a restaurant in Andrews, Texas, and the first was hit in the head after falling on a concrete ledge.
The lawsuit filed against the restaurant stated that its owner and a waiter – whose name was not mentioned – were responsible for Daniel’s injury, in order to allow them to drink excessively, and leave the place while they were in a state of extreme drunkenness.
The lawsuit also alleged that the waiter did not receive adequate training about when to stop serving alcohol to customers, in addition to accusing the restaurant owner of not adopting safety rules regarding the outdoor waiting area, which witnessed the fight between the two men.
