The security services in the Wadi Rum region in the south of the Kingdom arrested the star of the movie “Theeb” Jasser Eid, following a quarrel that took place in the same area, after the security services arrested a number of those present at the place, including Jasser Eid.

Eid was present in the same place, which witnessed a quarrel between a group of people, according to what his father confirmed.

His father, Eid Al-Suwailihi, appealed to the Director of Public Security, Major General Hussein Al-Hawatmeh, to instruct the Ma’an Governorate Police Directorate to release him, as he was not related to the case and the quarrel.

So far, no official clarification or statement has been issued by the General Security about the incident.

Theeb is a 2014 Jordanian drama and thriller film written and directed by Naji Abu Nowar, and it was nominated for an Academy Award for the year 2016 for Best Foreign Language Film.

The film centers around a Bedouin boy named Theeb, who has to survive in the Wadi Rum desert, and the film takes place during the Middle East scene during the Eastern theater of World War I at the beginning of the Great Arab Revolt against the rule of the Ottoman Empire.

The film achieved a qualitative leap in Jordanian cinema as the first feature film by the young director to achieve what looks like an artistic miracle by directly reaching the Oscar nominations, which critics consider a major turning point in Jordanian cinema in particular, none of which has reached the Oscars.
