The Minister of Digital Economy, Ahmed Al-Hanandeh, said that the ministry will start today, Thursday, activating the digital identity of citizens through the Sanad application, indicating that the ministry is working to simplify the procedures and dispense with matching the personal image with the civil status image currently in force to activate the application.

In statements to Hosna Radio today, Al-Hananda indicated that activating the digital identity means activating the digital signature automatically, to be used later in services that allow this in the public or private sectors.

Teams spread in the Kingdom to activate the digital identity in the Sanad app

Al-Hanandeh confirmed the deployment of teams located in different parts of the Kingdom during the coming period, to activate the digital identity for one time on the application of a bond in the presence of the citizen, using the fingerprint or personal verification.

He pointed out that the ministry will deploy teams in government institutions and major companies to activate the identity of employees and auditors, in addition to cooperating with service partners such as banks.

Hanandeh stated that the ministry will start with small teams through the Civil Status Department to examine the process and ensure its smoothness to address challenges, if they arise, to then attract companies to provide volunteers in the field to help citizens activate the Sanad application.

Hanandeh: We want the Sanad app to be the service provider from A to Z

Al-Hanandeh indicated that the ministry wants to make the Sanad app the service provider from A to Z.

He pointed out that the current problem is the presence of decentralization of service platforms, meaning that the application of a bond works to connect the citizen and send him to the service platforms of government departments and institutions, which are originally different in the type and quality of service, so the citizen feels that he is talking with 50 governments and not a single Jordanian government.

He stressed the ministry’s endeavor to decentralize the service, by making the service provider the government and not the departments or institutions themselves.

The minister added that the biggest challenge now before the ministry is to simplify the procedures, which includes amending regulations, instructions, laws and even the general work culture.

The Ministry will consider the bank account as a trusted entity to activate the digital identity

Hanandeh said that the ministry will consider the bank account or the account activated on the bank application as a trusted authority to activate the identity on the Sanad application.

He added that the cornerstone of the process of entering the government services platform is to identify the citizen electronically to activate the use of the platform.

Activate the health identity

Al-Hanandeh stated that the process of activating the health identity related to the Corona tests and the vaccination certificate takes place without the need to enter the Sanad application, as the application provides in its first interface the option of the health identity away from the entry procedures for the application.

He pointed out that the process of activating the health identity is done through a special option related to the data of the national number and date of birth

What is the benefit of a digital identity?

Hanandeh explained that the Sanad application will provide the citizen with a portfolio of electronically documented documents such as the family book, car license and identity to be used instead of paper in the future, indicating that the ministry will communicate with all institutions and departments to provide this portfolio.

The Ministry will review government services in the Sanad application

Hanandeh stressed that the ministry is working today to review all government services provided by Sanad according to criteria such as their importance to the citizen, the number of their movements, their value to the economy, and their importance in fighting corruption and bribery, after which priorities are set and services are introduced step by step.

And he indicated that the ministry will take into account all the comments received from citizens so that the citizen is part of building this system.
