On Friday, the Ministry of Health expressed its hope to give half a million doses of the vaccine against the Corona virus during the next week, especially since Jordan is on the verge of opening new sectors in early September.
The number of doses given this week reached about 320,000, according to a statement by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases, Adel Al-Balbisi, to “The Kingdom.”
Al-Balbisi announced that about 60% of those over the age of 60 had received, but the ministry aspires to reach all members of that age group, and said, “These people are the most vulnerable to infection and they have to take two doses of the vaccine in light of the spread of virus mutants, especially the delta mutator, which is spread in all countries of the world.” Including Jordan.
And it was found that more than 90% of the positive tests in Jordan are due to infections with the delta mutator, according to Al-Belbeisi.
Jordan began giving the third dose of the vaccine to people with low immunity (cancer patients, organ transplant patients, cell transplant patients, AIDS, patients undergoing dialysis, patients with multiple sclerosis, patients with golden fever), noting that there is a list of diseases that lead to immunodeficiency and they are the targets. By taking the third dose because their immunity is low compared to others.
The demand for a vaccine against the Corona virus, on Friday, witnessed a “relative weakness”, after reaching 8,000 doses, according to the Ministry of Health.
Al-Belbisi explained that the number of doses given on Fridays did not exceed 10,000 doses per day.
Al-Balbisi pointed out that the number of vaccine doses given in Jordan reached 6 million doses.
