Regarding the escalation and tension in the south, Sheikh Naim Qassem, Deputy Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, confirmed that “Hezbollah has publicly committed that any aggression against Lebanon must be met with an appropriate response.”

Qassem said in a television interview: “Israel must understand that it must remain deterred, otherwise we are ready to respond,” pointing out that “what Hezbollah did was a response to aggression, the whole world saw this aggression and we cannot remain silent about it. Whether this aggression is getting bigger or not, let’s see the coming days.”

The Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah indicated that the party “does not wait for events to be ready,” and said, “We have repeatedly announced that we are ready at any moment if there is any development and any aggression by Israel.”

He stressed: “We do not need an incident to take our precautions.” However, he added, “But we do not believe that things are heading towards an escalation. Nevertheless, Hezbollah is ready in the field and defends with confidence, decision and determination.”

Qassem added in a statement to Al-Mayadeen channel: “We found in Hezbollah that this response is appropriate. As for analyzing the details, let (Israel) analyze what it wants, and what Hezbollah did is a response to an aggression that the whole world saw. We cannot remain silent about it.”
