On Saturday morning, Jordanian director Saud al-Fayyad (78 years) died in his rural home in the “Magharib” area, which is located west of the city of Salt, according to his son Qassem, who confirmed to “The New Arab” the news without complaining of any illness, stressing that the late was dividing his time. Daily between writing, reading and practicing his hobby in cultivating the land.

Al-Fayyad, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Jordan in 1967, chose in recent years to stay away from the art scene, for reasons he described at the time as a decline in artistic mobility and the weakness of the submitted works, preferring that the public keep his great artistic archive that he presented.

Among the most prominent works that Al-Fayyad presented during his career: “The Glove” in 1969, “The Melody of Al-Bawadi” in 1973, “House Without a Man” 1979, “A Village Without Roofs” 1982, “Shams of the Valleys” 1980, “The Falcon” 1984, “The Mills.” 1983, “Jorh” 1984, “Al-Wafi” 1985, “The Plow and the Fallen” 1988, “Wajh al-Zaman” 1988, “The Earth and the Earth” 1989, “The Watering” 1995, “Umm al-Krum” 1997, “The Nabataeans” 2002.

What is remarkable about Al-Fayyad’s career is that his latest series “The Nabataeans” refused to be shown to the public by Jordanian TV for reasons that were not announced, although director Al-Fayyadh and author Mahmoud Al-Zeyoudi received two royal medals from King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, in appreciation of their efforts in bringing the series to light, which was considered one of the productions. Amman is the capital of Arab culture.

In the last two years, Al-Fayyad has devoted himself to writing his autobiography and memoirs, which he said will contain the scenes of the prominent stations of his artistic and social life, and before the spread of the Corona virus, he was preparing a documentary film that tells the biography of Jordan’s Prime Minister Wasfi Al-Tal.
