Iran’s new president meets Arab figures at swearing-in ceremony

The new Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, met with a number of prominent Arab personalities participating in the swearing-in ceremony.
Raisi met with Iraqi President Barham Salih, today, Thursday, and they discussed common files between the two countries, and the need for their development in various fields, activating understandings and agreements concluded between the two sides in the economic sectors and enhancing trade exchange, were also discussed, and developments in the region were also discussed.
The Iraqi president praised Iran’s supportive role for Iraq in fighting the terrorist organization ISIS and its plans to destabilize the security and stability of the region, and that Iraq strongly supports the stability of the region and put an end to tensions.
He stressed, “the region’s need for understandings, coordinating efforts and relying on participants through constructive dialogues to establish the pillars of regional stability and confront many challenges shared by the countries of the region in the face of terrorism and health crises represented by the Corona pandemic, the dangers of climate change and environmental protection,” stressing that “a secure and stable Iraq” Sovereignty is an essential component of regional security and stability and a factor of economic interdependence.”
For his part, Raisi praised “the great efforts made by Iraq to establish stability and security in the countries of the region.”
The Prime Minister also met with the Algerian Prime Minister Ayman Ben Abdel Rahman.
Raisi praised the friendly and constructive relations that brought together Iran and Algeria after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, stressing that his government has set its foreign policy priorities on the basis of expanding relations with neighboring countries and Islamic countries.
He added: The will of the Islamic Republic of Iran is represented in improving the level of relations with the State of Algeria; Noting that strengthening bilateral relations should form a basis for raising cooperation between the two countries at the international level as well.
For his part, Ben Abdel Rahman praised the new Iranian president’s sympathy with the Algerian people.
Ben Abdel Rahman pointed out that the challenge in Algeria today is to overcome economic problems and to make efforts aimed at expanding economic relations with other countries, which is the basis of the Algerian officials’ desire to develop ties with the Iranian Republic.
In addition, Raisi met yesterday, Wednesday, with a number of delegations that came to participate in the presidential swearing-in ceremony, including: the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, the Speaker of the Parliament of Syria, the spokesman for the Yemeni Ansar Allah Movement and others.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah, who is visiting Tehran to participate in the presidential oath-taking ceremony, and they discussed a number of issues, and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi.
Among the figures of the Arab delegations participating in the swearing-in ceremony are the Minister of Trade and Industry in the State of Qatar Ali al-Kuwari, the Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah in Lebanon Sheikh Naim, the Speaker of the Syrian Parliament Hammouda Sabbagh, and Ismail Haniyeh at the head of a leading delegation from Hamas.
In addition, Iranian media, quoting informed sources in the Iranian parliament, pointed out that a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will arrive in Tehran to participate in the swearing-in ceremony, according to what the correspondent of Russia Today said.
The reporter added that there will be an official delegation, but some sources talk about the participation of a Saudi diplomat, who is the vice president of an international organization.
