The media spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mowaffaq Abdel Wahab, denied the artist Kazem Al-Saher’s apology for reviving the opening ceremony of the Gulf 25 in Basra Governorate at the end of this year.
He added in a press statement, “What was reported by some news agencies and social media about the artist Kazem Al-Saher’s apology for coming to Basra to celebrate the opening ceremony of the 25th Gulf Championship at the end of this year is not true.”
He added: “We did not receive any response from the great artist Kazem Al-Saher, who was invited to an honorary invitation marked by the signature of the Minister of Youth and Sports to attend the opening ceremony and meet the Iraqi masses in a sporting event dear to the hearts of Iraqis and the Arab Gulf states.”
Abdel-Wahab indicated that “talking about any developments regarding the opening ceremony is premature, due to the time interval that distances us from the date of the championship, and linking any false news about the championship is a damage to the nation’s reputation and its sporting standing, which we all aspire to be at the best of everyone’s expectations. And convey an honorable image of our preparations and sports facilities, and not the other way around.”
Abdel-Wahab called on the media not to deal with any information that is raised here and there through social media and to deal with it, and to rely on the news from its authorized source only.
It is noteworthy that Iraqi media circulated two days ago information regarding the apology of the artist Kazem Al-Saher for attending the opening ceremony of Gulf 25 in Basra.
