“Statistics” begins preparing for the Population and Family Health Survey 2022

Today, Thursday, the Department of Statistics held the first meeting at the level of partner leaders to prepare for the Population and Family Health Survey 2022.
According to a press release by the department, the meeting was attended by 15 representatives from relevant ministries and institutions, such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development, the Higher Population Council, the National Council for Family Affairs, and international organizations, which were represented by the US Agency for International Development, the Macro International Foundation, and the United Nations Population Fund. The International Organization for Migration, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the World Food Organization.
The Director General of the Department of Statistics, Dr. Shaher Al-Shawabkeh, stressed the importance of implementing this survey because it provides comprehensive data and specialized indicators on reproduction, death, family planning, mother and child health and nutrition at the level of the Kingdom and at the level of governorates, urban, rural and regions, in addition to the representation of society by nationality. Which is a reference source for specialists in the field of family health and reproduction for the purposes of evaluating population and health programs and policies. Al-Shawabkeh indicated that there are a series of technical meetings, which will be organized during the next phase, which will harmonize the outcomes of this survey in line with national needs. In turn, the representative of the US Agency for International Development, Johann Mackay, stressed the importance of this survey and welcomed the continued cooperation with the Department of Statistics, through this survey.
For her part, the international expert from the International Macro Foundation, Alivia Montana, welcomed the continuous cooperation with the department, which began since 1990, indicating the objectives and indicators of the survey, and the changes that will be used in the survey in line with national and international requirements that serve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
