Scientists from Moscow State University conducted a study, in which it became known how the amount of calories consumed affects the condition of the kidneys.

The researchers used in a study during the experiments, small and large mice that were diagnosed with kidney disease. It turned out that reducing the rodents’ calorie intake had a beneficial effect on the kidneys.

Furthermore, the study authors note that improvements were observed even in cases of severe disease.

The result of these findings may not only be the introduction of dietary modifications into clinical practice, but also the synthesis of drugs that can replicate the effect of calorie restriction.
