MP Saleh Al-Armouti criticized the government’s continued implementation of the Defense Law, which stops work in all laws, calling on the government to stop working on the law immediately.

Al-Armouti said in a statement to “Al-Basala” that defense orders issued under the Defense Law have become burdensome to citizens, and directly infringe on their rights stipulated in the Constitution, indicating that the government has begun to infringe on the powers of other authorities under the pretext of the Defense Law.

And he stressed the need to respect the principle of separation of powers, as defense orders have become infringing on the judiciary and legislation and go beyond the task entrusted to it and the goal that was announced because of the Defense Law, which is to preserve the health of citizens and deal with the Corona pandemic.

He called on the government to stop the Defense Law and to implement the Public Health Law, which gives the Minister of Health wide powers to confront epidemics, as it can be applied to confront the current health and epidemiological situation.

MP Armouti added, “We are now in a phase of political reform, and the government must give rights to their owners,” pointing out that the Defense Law has become restricting citizens’ freedom and movement.
