Director of Transportation Operations in the Greater Amman Municipality, Khaled Abu Alim, said on Sunday that “more than 25,000 passengers have used the fast-frequency bus since it began operating last week.

He added to “Al-Mamlaka”, that “the main bus stations witnessed during the past two days a large turnout and congestion by citizens.”

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh inaugurated the trial operation of the long-awaited first track of the vital project.

To encourage testing the high-frequency bus service, the Municipality decided to “set the tariff price for the first two weeks of the trial run at a value of one penny only.”

The Amman Municipality increased the number of high-speed buses, from 12 to 30, last Friday, within the first days of the trial operation of the first route between Downtown and Sweileh.

On Tuesday, the head of the Amman Municipality Committee, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, suggested that the actual operation of the entire fast-frequency bus project will take place after at least two and a half years.
