The US Department of Justice announced the arrest of Tom Brake, a former advisor to former President Donald Trump, after he was suspected of involvement in activities for the UAE.

She explained that Barak faces 7 charges related to dealing with the UAE, without official notification between April 2016 and April 2018.

The ministry said that two other defendants, one of whom is an Emirati, acted at the direction of Emirati officials to influence the 2016 US presidential elections by taking advantage of Barak’s relationship with a presidential candidate who eventually reached the presidency.

She explained that the defendants are Tom Brack, Matthew Grimes, the former CEO of one of the Brak companies, and Rashid Al Malik Al Shehhi, a businessman close to the rulers of the UAE, and the three are accused of not registering as agents of the UAE government.

And the American “Hill” website said that law enforcement authorities accuse Barak of lying to FBI agents during a 2019 interview, when he was interrogated about dealing with a country in the Middle East.

The site pointed out that Barak made a fortune in real estate and was one of his closest advisers during the campaign and after winning the presidency, and he frequently visited leaders in the Middle East, and reports indicated that he spoke regularly with Trump and gave him briefings on those visits and talks.
