Chinese technology giant Tenset has launched a new technology with the aim of reducing children’s addiction to video games, as the agency “Bloomberg” confirmed that the company has developed a facial recognition system to prevent children from playing electronic games at night, and this technology aims to prevent those under the age of 18 A year of play between 10pm and 8am.

The company named its new system Midnight Patrol Or the “midnight guard”, and this system has been integrated into more than 60 “Tenst” games, and the new system is able to recognize the face of children and thwart their tricks to overcome age restrictions, such as using their parents’ identities or their devices, as the system scans the faces of children. Players to check their age before they are allowed to play the game at the aforementioned timing.
The company explained that anyone who refuses or fails to verify the face will be treated as a minor, to enable the offline mode, and the new system comes in line with the new rules established by the Chinese government in 2019 to reduce video game addiction.
In 2017, the Chinese government announced a controversial policy that requires internet and online service providers to force users to register with their real identity. Critics of the move say it will increase the risk of potential security breaches and enhance the government’s ability to monitor citizens’ activities.
