The Pentagon confirmed that it had received a request from the Haitian government to deploy US forces in the country to help establish stability after the assassination of its president, Gonneville Moyes, noting that Washington was studying this possibility.

“We have seen the Haitian government’s request,” Defense Department spokesman John Kirby said in an interview with “Fox News”, today, Sunday, in response to a question about the extent of the United States’ willingness to send troops to Haiti. We are currently analyzing it as we would any other request for assistance.”

Moise was mortally wounded in an armed attack on his home on the evening of July 7, and the press office of Haitian Prime Minister Claude Joseph said the killing was carried out by foreign mercenaries. Martial law was declared in the country for 15 days.

Haitian Minister of Elections, Matthias Pierre, said on July 9 that his country’s government had asked the United States to send troops to protect key infrastructure in Haiti in the wake of Moise’s assassination.

And yesterday, Saturday, the US State Department announced sending a large delegation to Haiti to solve the political crisis that arose in the country after the assassination of the president.
